One of our apprenticeship scheme partners – Barnet and Southgate College Auto Body and Paint’s Open Day.
Barnet and Southgate College Auto Body and Paint held another one of its very successful open days on September 17, bringing together some very satisfied customers and their classics, prospective clients and young people considering joining the Guild-backed apprenticeship scheme. The college’s scheme goes from strength to strength and the quality of work on both completed cars at the event and underway in the workshops is a testament to the dedication of the team and their efforts in helping to turn out the classic car restorers of tomorrow, with the backing of the Guild.
A special short course in Classic Car Restoration was launched at the event with some 20 sign ups on the day, already proving highly successful. Anyone interested in joining this 6 week course should contact mary.ramsey@barnetsouthgate.ac.uk. Telephone 0208443 3821.
The college used the open day as an opportunity to launch its own club. The BSC Classics Club is mainly to help members keep in touch with events at the college, but they will also benefit from preferential rates for restoration and repair work, as well as discounts from neighbouring business Morelli, which specialises in automotive detailing.
There was a raffle held, with several prize winners. The top prize donated by Morelli’s was a special paint and care accessories discount and also Classic and Sports Car magazine donated a full year’s subscription.
The College’s Historic Vehicle Restoration Apprenticeship Programme has been designed in conjunction with The International Guild of Specialist Engineers (TIGOSE) specifically to develop technician apprentices from across the UK to equip them with the highest level of traditional skills and practical ability within the Vehicle Restoration industry.
